Why Invest Ethically?
With any information about am not a qualified financial adviser, so if you need financial advice please don't look here. What I do know though is that of all the steps that individuals make, arguably how they invest any money they have, is the most important one. The fact is that the major banks used in the UK have made little or no effort to divest from the very worst fossil fuel companies, but in a capitalist society it is money that talks. If you don't believe me in how important it is and have you haven't come across it consider the project of 'national treasure', Richard Curtis' Make My Money Matter project. According to Make My Money Matter, $55bn of finance to fossil fuels from the Big 5 banks in 2023 alone, £3,000 per pension saver is invested in fossil fuels, £2 in every £10 saved in your pension is linked to deforestation. The good news is how easy it is to do something about.
